At Magetch, we are not only providing customized solutions to the Bio-Fuel Producers but also investing in developing cutting edge technologies in this sector via Industry-Institution Partnerships. Some of these institutes are Jadavpur University, Indian Institute of Technology– Guwahati, Haldia Institutes of Technologies etc.

At present following R&D projects are ongoing at Magtech with different institutes of high repute.

Project-1

Development of a Heterogeneous Catalyst for the Transesterification of Palm Stearin, Acid Oil, and Animal Tallow.

This study aims to develop an efficient and sustainable heterogeneous catalyst for the transesterification of Palm Stearin (with an iodine value >30), Acid Oil derived from Rice Bran or Soy, and Animal Tallow (Type A & B). The objective is to create a cost-effective and environmentally friendly catalyst that can enhance biodiesel production from these diverse feedstocks.

Development of Efficient Electrocatalysts based Hydrogen Production through Water Splitting

Hydrogen is the cleanest fuel and because of its high calorific value it is now agreed by the scientists and technologists worldwide that it is the future fuel. Among the various methods of hydrogen production, water electrolysis combined with solar electricity is thought to be the most environmentally friendly technology for hydrogen-based economy. The aims of this project are mainly of two-folds: i) appropriate catalyst development and ii) designing and optimizing the electrochemical cell parameters for efficient hydrogen production.

Biodiesel Production from High Free Fatty Acid (FFA) Oils Using Solid Acid Catalyst in a Single-Step Process.

The increasing demand for renewable energy sources has intensified the search for sustainable alternatives to fossil fuels. This project aims to develop a cost-effective and efficient single-step process for converting high FFA oils to biodiesel using a solid acid catalyst.

Process Design along with Preparation of DPR for 100 TPD Biodiesel Processing Plant

This project involves the establishment of a 100 TPD Biodiesel Process Plant utilizing a novel technology known as Reactive Distillation with Side Reactor (SRC) featuring heterogeneous catalytic transesterification.

Project-5

Synthesis of Sustainable Aviation Fuel Lignocellulosic Biomass

One of the most promising pathways for SAF production is the lignocellulosic biomass to Liquids (BTL) approach, which involves converting renewable biomass feedstocks into synthetic paraffinic kerosene (SPK). This process begins with the gasification of biomass, where feedstocks such as agricultural residues, forestry by-products, and dedicated energy crops are subjected to high temperatures in a low-oxygen environment. This gasificationproduces syngas, a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, which serves as a crucial intermediate in the fuel production process.

Sustainable Synthesis of Second-Generation Ethanol from Feedstock (Lignocellulosic) and Life Cycle Assessment Analysis

Synthesis of second-generation green bio-ethanol from Lignocellulosic biomass employing solid acid catalyst and micro-organisms through hydrolysis-fermentation pathway.
